Biography
Education Ph.D. : Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India. (July, 1998) Title of Ph.D. Thesis: Photocatalytic degradation of toxic organic pollutants and photokilling of pathogenic bacteria present in waste water. Sponsored by Ministry of Environment & Forest project entitled ‘’Study of photocatalytic degradation of pesticides & carcinogenic materials present in village drinking water, Rs. 3.09 lakhs, 1993-1996 M.Sc.:First Class (69.8%) in Chemistry (with merit scholarship), University of Viswa Bharati, West Bengal, India (October 1991) Date of Birth :6th January, 1966, Calcutta, India.
Research Interest
Research Interest Preparation, characterization, surface morphology, optical, electrokinetic and photocatalytic properties of noble metals (Au, Ag, Fe, Cr, Cu Pt, Rh and Pd) and semiconductors (CdS, TiO2, ZnS, ZnO) nanoparticles of different shapes and sizes and their metal-semioconductor junctions. Core-shell nanostructure of photostable silica coated CdS/ZnS nanosphere and nanorods (metal/CdS@SiO2) and effect of Ar laser irradiation on the physical properties of this nanostructures. Size and shape dependent thermal conductivity of metal oxide based nanofluids. Photocatalytic organic functional group transformations.
