Biography

Dr. Dipayan Das is currently working as Associate Professor in the Department of Textile Technology of Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He received PhD from Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic in 2005. This was followed by position as a post-doc research associate at the Nonwovens Cooperative Research Center in North Carolina State University, USA. He then joined IIT Delhi as Assistant Professor in 2008. He served as Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Textile Engineering, Chemistry & Science of NC State University. He has taught Nonwoven Technology, Textile Structures, Textile Process Control, Technical Textiles as well as Design of Experiments and Statistical Techniques at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His research interest lies in the areas of Nonwoven Products and Processes, Modeling of Fibrous Structures and Their Properties, and Product and Process Engineering Using Statistical and Mathematical Techniques. He has published two books, one monograph, and over 80 articles in scientific journals and conference proceedings. He has guided over 30 theses, leading to various degrees, including PhD, MTech and BTech. He is the recipient of Kusuma Trust Outstanding Young Faculty Fellowship (2008), Fiber Society Best Student Paper Award (2004), Czech Doctoral Scholarship (2002), DAAD Scholarship (2001), Precitex Award (1999), Debabrata Bhattachariya Memorial Prize (1998). He ranked All India First in GATE-1999 (TF) and First Class First in Bachelor of Textile Technology Program of University of Calcutta (1999).
