Biography

Dr. Nitya Nand Gosvami completed his B. Tech. with honours, in Metallurgical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology - Banaras Hindu University (IIT-BHU), in India in 2003 and completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at National University of Singapore in 2008. He joined Leibniz Institute for New Materials in Germany as a Postdoctoral Scientist in March 2008 and was later awarded Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship. During April-March, 2008, he was a visiting scientist at Department of Physics at McGill University in Canada. In October 2010, he joined University College London in United Kingdom as a Research Associate and worked in collaboration with London Center for Nanotechnology. In september 2012, he moved on to work at Mechanical Engineering Department at University of Pennsylvania in the United States where he worked as a Research Project Manager. He joined the Department of Applied Mechanics at the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi (IIT-D) in 2016 where he is working as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Gosvami's research is focused upon understanding nanoscale mechanical and tribological behavior of materials where he is investigating fundamental mechanisms of friction, wear and deformation of a wide variety of materials and processes occurring at the liquid-solid interfaces, relevant for understanding of the functionality of industrial lubricants and additives.
