Prof. Debasish Sur

Biography

Dr Debasish Sur is Professor at the Department of Commerce of the University of Burdwan, West Bengal. He did his M.Com (Gold Medalist) in 1990 , M. Phi ( Topper ) in 1993 and Ph.D (Human Resource Accounting ) in 2002 from the University of Burdwan. He obtained his B.Com ( Hons. ) degree from the same University in 1988 and stood first in the first class . He has over 20 years of teaching experience at the post - graduate level. He is a life member of the Indian Accounting Association, Indian Commerce Association and Internati onal Business Studies Academia and an annual member of British Accounting and Finance Association. He is also an invited member of various academic bodies in different universities in India. Profess or Sur has so far contributed more than 9 0 papers in reputed professional and academic journals. He has authored one book in the area of Cost Accounting published by the University of Bu rdwan and one book in the area of Financial Management published by Book Syndicate Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata. Dr Sur has also penned a book entitled “Financial Statement Analysis: A Comprehensive Approach” published by Excel Books, New Delhi. He has acted as vis iting faculty in different universities in India like Tripura Central University, University of North Bengal, University of Gour Ban ga etc. Under his supervision 12 researchers and 20 scholars have completed their Ph.D and M.Phil degrees respectively. Dr S ur has attended many seminars and conferences in India and abroad and also acted as Resource Person in several national and international seminars. He is also acting as Reviewer in Palgrave Macmillan, AshEse Journal of Business Management, African Journal of Business Management, International Journal of Business and Finance Management Research, Cogent Business & Management (Taylor and Francis ) and Journal of Financial 2 | P a g e Reporting & Accounting (Emerald). His areas of interest include Financial Statement Analy sis, Corporate Performance Measurement, Corporate Financial Management, International Accounting etc.
