Prof. Debdas Rakshit

Biography

Dr Debdas Rakshit is Professor at the Department of Commerce of the University of Burdwan, W est Bengal. He did his M.Com in 1994 and Ph.D in 2006 from the University of Burdwan. He obtained his ICWA degree from The Institute of Cost Accountants of India in 19 94 and passed both Inter and Final in first attempt. He has over 15 years of teaching experience at the post - graduate level and 5 years of industry experience . He is a life member of th e Indian Accounting Association and Fell ow member of The Institute of Cost Accountants of India . He is also an invited member of various academic bodies in different universities in India . Prof. Rakshit has so far contributed more than 80 papers in reputed professional and academic journals. He has authored five books in the area of Corporate Restructuring, Buy back of shares, Co - operative movements in India, Corporate Restructuring through Demerger and EVA Based Segmental Reporting published by different reputed International publishers. Under h is supervision 8 researchers and 5 scholars have completed their Ph.D and M.Phil degrees respectively. Dr . Rakshit has attended many seminars and conferences in India and also acted as chairperson in several national and International seminars. His areas of interest include Corporate Restructuring, Financial Statement Analysis, Corporate Performance Measurement, Corporate Financial Management, International Accounting , Value Based Management, Computer Application in Business etc.
