Biography
Achievements: Instrumental for developing and securing the Project proposal titled “Advancement of healthcare at local levels using traditional knowledge in sync with modern database and analysis” through a 3 year review by Karnataka Jnana Aayoga and sanctioned by Govt of Karnataka, Department of AYUSH. A Pilot-project to develop local medicinal plants & herbal pharmacopeia of HD Kote Taluka on a GIS & ICT platform. Centre of Excellence MOEF – Special grant for 2016 – 17 to disseminate the research of GIS Mapping on Medicinal Plants executed through the Centre of Excellence Program for more than a decade by conducting a National GIS Workshop. M. Sathya Sangeetha, D.K. Ved & Vijay Barve, 2012 – 2017, Eco-geographic mapping of 75 prioritized Medicinal Plants of North East India using open source GIS tools. Research Interest
Understanding Medicinal Plant Distribution and Mapping using open source tools like QGIS, Backward Linkage Study and mapping of traded botanicals, Geographical Information System.
