Biography
Dr. Surajit Sarkar received his Ph.D in Zoology (Developmental Genetics) in 2007 from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India, where he studied the role(s) of Hsp60during various stages of development and fertility in Drosophila melanogaster. Subsequently, he joined Department of Genetics, University of Delhi (South Campus), New Delhi, as Assistant Professor and still working there.He worked as Visiting Associate at California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, USA, during 2010-11.
Research Interest
Dr. Sarkar’s group is mostly focused on harnessing the power of Drosophila genetics to address some basic questions associated with developmental genetics and for exploring the cellular and developmental basis of some fatal human neurodegenerative disorders and aging phenomenon.
