Biography
C T Anitha has received the post graduation degree (M.D. Community Medicine) from St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore and a Masters degree in Public Health (MPH) from University of South Florida. She has Post Graduate Degree in Hospital and Health Care Management from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi. She has fifteen years of experience working on maternal, neonatal, child health and nutrition issues in various capacities. She has closely worked with health departments of four states in South India (Karnataka, Pondicherry, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) and contributed to the setting up of well women clinics and programmes for improving women’s health. She has trained health care professionals (doctors, nurses and community health workers) in public health management of Reproductive Child Health (RCH), STI and HIV programs. She holds the distinction of having led the clinical team during the first Integrated Biological and Behavioral Survey conducted in Mysore, Karnataka. She has evaluated Non-Governmental Organizations implementing HIV and MCH intervention programs. She worked at PAHO, Washington DC with the Department of HIV and Gender Unit for the project on Gender based violence and HIV risk- Dual Epidemic and Intersecting Risk. She was involved in the multi country study - Honduras, Belize and Nicaragua on domestic violence in the Caribbean region She was the Principal Investigator for evaluation of 24x7 primary health centers providing maternal and child health services in Medak district. She has made significant contribution towards the development of Standard Operating Procedure manual for operationalizing maternal death reviews in Andhra Pradesh in collaboration with UNICEF. At the invitation of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, she lead the team to develop over thirty facilitator guide and handbooks for use by food regulators and food handlers. She was appointed as a member of the committee constituted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh to carry out situational analysis study for the implementation of Food Safety & Standards Act in the state.
