Dr. Johny K. V

Biography

 Dr. K.V. Johny, an eminent nephrologist and a pioneer in many fields of nephrlogy has held several clinical and academic positions in India, Canada and Kuwait. He has a number of awards to his credit such as the Life Time Achievement Award from the society of organ transplantation for having performed the very first renal transplant in India way back in 1971 and Schribner Award from the Indian Society of Nephrology for pioneeering the Nephrology and Dialysis programme in India. Dr. K.V. Johny headed the medical team that performed the first successful renal transplantation in India at the Christian Medical College Hospital, Vellore, 1971 and also established the first largest Renal Dialysis Centre in India at the Christian Medical College. He started the second centre for D.M. (Nephrology) training programme in India also at the Christian Medical College. Dr. K.V. Johny also headed the medical team that re-established renal transplantation programme in Kuwait after Iraqui invasion,
