Biography
My active research career began in 1995 on the ungulates of the Himalaya and subsequently on pheasants, which led to my Ph.D. degree. I also undertook research projects on the tiger and associated species in the Terai Arc Landscape and central India. I am interested in understanding the correlates of landscape change, modelling species–habitat relationships and conflict resolution mechanisms. I provide teaching inputs in landscape ecology, ornithology, habitat ecology and remote sensing and GIS. I am a member of the IUCN/SSC Galliformes Specialist Group and offer technical advice to pheasant research and management in India and Nepal.
Research Interest
Landscape ecology; conservation biology; ecology and management of pheasants; wildlife population monitoring.
