Habil Khorakiwala

Biography

 Habil Khorakiwala founded Wockhardt in 1967. He has gone on to build a multinational enterprise active in the fields of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and hospitals and created one of India’s leading healthcare businesses. As well as being a highly successful entrepreneur he has held many senior positions as an industry representative and is highly respected in India and overseas. As a former president of FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry) Dr. Khorakiwala represented India’s business interests to many presidents, prime ministers and heads-of-state. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Governors at the Centre for Organisation & Development in Hyderabad, a non-profit scientific and industrial research organisation, and a recognised doctoral research centre. A Harvard alumni, Dr. Habil Khorakiwala is a member of the World Economic Forum and was a distinguished speaker at its 2008 Davos meeting. A graduate of Purdue University in the US, in 2010 he was awarded an honorary doctorate by his alma mater. He has served as the Honorary Consul General of Sweden in Mumbai.
