Biography
Dr Ramakant Agrawal did his schooling from Hindu High School, Hazaribag (Jharkhand) in 1977. He graduated in Economics (Hons) from St Columba’s College, Hazaribag in 1983 and completed his Masters in Economics from Ranchi University’s PG Centre, St Columba’s College, Hazaribag in 1985. He secured first class first in Ranchi University. He was awarded UGC’s prestigious Junior Research Fellowship in 1986 to pursue doctoral studies. He completed PhD in Economics in 1992 from Ranchi University. He joined XISS, Ranchi as Lecturer in 1988 and is currently working as Professor in the Department of Human Resource Management of the Institute. He has written several research reports on Jharkhand’s Finances for Finance Department of Government of Jharkand. He was made a member of state’s GST Committee and he was recommended by Jharkhand Government’s Finance Department to become a Member of Jharkhand State Planning Board. He was invited by the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Finance Commissions to attend a meeting of Economists of Eastern India in Kolkata. He, along with Dr Rohit Vishal Kumar, wrote a Report on Evaluation of Jharkhand State Finances for Fourteenth Finance Commission. He has also served as Guest Faculty in XLRI, Jamshedpur from 1999 to 2002. He is well versed in statistical software SPSS.
