Shyamal Gomes

Biography

Dr. Shyamal Gomes is an Associate Professor in the area of Human Resource Management at XISS Ranchi, since 2008. His teaching areas are Strategic Management, Total Quality Management and International Human Resource Management. He has completed his Doctoral programme on International Human Resource Management entitled “Socio-cultural profile of Human Resources (Indian) in a multinational Industrial project who are not native of the area, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia” and obtained Ph.D. degree in 2000, from the Faculty of Social Science, Magadh University, Bodh Gaya. He has done his Masters in Social Anthropology from Calcutta University and also 2 years Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from IBMR Calcutta (affiliated by WBTU). He is also graduated in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from College of Professional Management (CPM), Britain and Management Teachers’ Programme on Strategic Management from Strategic Forum, IIM Lucknow (2010). He is also a master trainer of Total Quality Management. Prior to joining XISS (2008), Dr. Gomes worked for more than 14 years in Industries like ABGCO, Saudi Arabia, Usha Martin (KGVK) Limited, Ranchi and National Developmental Organization like SKC in Calcutta as a Human Resource Specialist and Training and Development Manager. He has published 15 articles in National and International Journals and a strategic management case in Economic Times (GSMC 2014) Dr. Gomes is also writing a book on “International Migration: A Socio – Psychological Study of Indian Labourers”. In 2009, Dr. Gomes received ‘Rastriya Gourav Award’ from India Friendship Society, New Delhi for best management teaching and Social Work Contributions. Besides, teaching and research, he is also the coordinator of the Social Service Field Work (HR) at XISS for the last 7 years. In 2014, he is empanelled by ICFAI University, Jharkhand, to guide students / management scholars of the Ph.D programme.
