Biography
Dr Peake is a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist who obtained a 2:1 honours medical degree from University College Dublin in 1994 and subsequently specialised in General Paediatrics in Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, Dublin and then in the West Midlands Deanery, UK. She obtained dual qualification as a practicing consultant in both General Paediatrics and Paediatric Neurology after completing a 6 year national training scheme in the UK In 2006 Dr Peake was awarded a Certificate of Sub-Speciality Training (CSST) in Paediatric Neurology following completion of the National Training Grid scheme in Paediatric Neurology. Dr Peake was appointed as a Paediatric Neurology Consultant in Birmingham Children’s Hospital in 2006 and since 2007 holds a position as a Paediatric Neurology Consultant in the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children (RBHSC) Belfast. Dr Peake publishes in scientific journals and present at national and international meetings. Paediatric Neurology Dr Peake is a paediatric neurologist and looks after a wide variety of childhood neurological illness including: Epilepsy, Headache and migraine Fits, faints and funny turns Tic disorders and Tourette’s Syndrome Developmental delay Developmental co-ordination disorders Abnormalities of gait Muscle and nerve problems Rarer neurological disorders including stoke, demyelination, metabolic and genetic conditions Her specialist interest within Paediatric Neurology is in the diagnosis and management of Paediatric Epilepsy and she runs specialised epilepsy clinics including a Ketogenic diet and Vagal nerve stimulation clinic. With an interest in Tics/ Tourette’s Syndrome, Dr Peake sits on the board of Tourette’s Alliance, Northern Ireland
