Biography
Dr Menown MB BCH BAO, MD, MRCP(UK), FRCP(Edin) is a Consultant Cardiologist and Director of Interventional Cardiology at Craigavon Cardiac Centre, current President of the Irish Atherosclerosis Society and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen's University, Belfast. His special interests include general and acute cardiology, chest pain assessment/coronary artery disease, interventional cardiology (angioplasty/stenting), atrial fibrillation, heart failure, cholesterol management and coronary prevention/risk reduction. Dr Menown received his medical degree with distinction from Queens University and trained in Belfast before completing an interventional fellowship at Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Centre, Canada. He obtained a postgraduate doctorate of medicine, the Purce medal and JD Williams prize for his research in improving early detection of myocardial infarction and has published over 80 papers and 100 scientific abstracts in his fields of interest. Dr Menown has been elected to European expert groups of Thrombosis, Cardiovascular Pharmacology & Drug Therapy and Atherosclerosis & Vascular Biology, and serves as Cardiology Editor or board member for several International Cardiology journals. Dr Menown undertakes regular cardiology clinics at Kingsbridge Private Hospital. In addition to comprehensive consultation, a full range of cardiac investigations and procedures can be arranged as needed including 12 lead ECG (heart trace), exercise treadmill testing, echocardiography, cardiac rhythm monitoring, 24 hour blood pressure monitoring and cardiac CT at Kingsbridge, and coronary angiography or coronary balloon angioplasty/stenting at nearby interventional cardiology centres.
