Biography
Joe Taets is senior vice president and president of Archer Daniels Midland Company’s Agricultural Services business unit, and a member of the company’s Executive Council. In his current role, Taets is responsible for the commercial activities and operations of the company’s agricultural origination, wheat milling, and global trading, as well as ADM’s transportation network, which spans more than 75 countries. In addition to his responsibilities leading ADM’s Ag Services business, Taets served for three years as president, ADM Europe, Middle East and Africa, leading the company’s strategy and growth activities across the region. He previously was president of ADM’s grain group, with responsibility for the company’s domestic and export grain businesses, grain-merchandising operations, destination-marketing business, and ocean freight and vessel operations. He joined ADM in 1988. Taets serves on the boards of ADM International; ADM Crop Risk Services; American River Transportation Company; ADM Australia Holdings; and ADM Grain River System Inc. He also represents ADM on international boards in Canada, Germany, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Holland, Mexico, Panama and Switzerland. Taets is a member of the Board of Directors of Chicago-based Urban Initiatives. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University and an MBA from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
