Biography
As director of scientific affairs and professional relations for the Diagnostics Division of Beckman Coulter, Inc., Dr. Jack Zakowski represents the company within clinical, scientific and professional communities. His career includes roles in R&D, product development, technical support, clinical affairs, strategic development and scientific affairs. He is committed to advancing healthcare through the global standardization of clinical diagnostics. Dr. Zakowski has devoted his career to healthcare, entering the clinical chemistry field over 30 years ago. Through his work at Beckman Coulter, and his relationship with the industry's leading professional organizations - AACC, CLSI, ISO, NKDEP, NGSP, and others - he contributed significantly to improving patient care by helping introduce new technologies and workflow improvements to hospital laboratories around the globe. Serving on the board of directors of the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) - a global leader in standards development - Dr. Zakowski works to promote the development and use of voluntary consensus standards and guidelines within the healthcare community. He is currently the President of CLSI. Dr. Zakowski received his doctorate in biochemistry from UC Davis, and completed his training fellowship in clinical chemistry from the University of Virginia Hospital.
