Biography
Dr. Andrea Holmes graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1996. She completed her internship and General Professional Training in Medicine in the Federated Dublin Hospitals and Specialist Registrar training in Genitourinary Medicine (Sexual Health and HIV) at the GUIDE Clinic, St James’ Hospital Dublin and St.Mary’s Hospital, London. In 2005 she moved to Houston, Texas where she completed an Infectious Disease Fellowship at the University of Texas including training in infectious disease care of cancer patients at MD Anderson Cancer Center. She is enrolled in the specialist division of the medical register in Infectious Diseases, Genitourinary Medicine and General Internal Medicine. She is also a Forensic Medical Examiner of victims of sexual assault and Clinical Director of the Galway Sexual Assault Treatment Unit. Her particular areas of interest are infectious disease care of immunocompromised patients and screening and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STI). She has a mixed general medicine, STI and infectious disease clinic on Tuesday mornings in Suite 8. Patients may self-refer or be referred by their GP.
