Biography
Dr. Debbie Ging is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Communications. She teaches Media Studies, Film Studies and Television Drama (with a focus on gender and sexuality). Her current research is concerned with articulations of gender on social media, and addresses issues such as cyberbullying, online misogyny, men's rights politics, eating disorders and the sexualisation of children. Debbie is Ireland Corresponding Editor of the journal Men and Masculinities (http://jmm.sagepub.com/) and is a member of the Editorial Board of Gender, Sexuality and Feminism (http://www.gsfjournal.org/). She is also a member of the National Anti-Bullying Research and Resource Centre, the Institute for Future Media and Journalism (FuJo) and the EROSS research group in DCU.
Research Interest
All aspects of gender and sexuality in the media, masculinity in film, advertising, gender and (cyber)bullying, games in education, audience research, sound in cinema.
