Biography
Aidan is a chartered civil engineer with over 20 years of consulting practice and more than a decade of research and teaching experience. He has a wide expertise in the field of energy consulting, management and research. He has been involved in the design, construction and operation of CHP plant and low-energy buildings and undertakes research on energy devices, systems and policies. He lectures on masters courses in energy management and sustainable infrastructure and has supervised several PhD students on energy-related research. He has won and managed numerous national and international energy research projects. He has published two books (one in press) on engineering and energy project appraisal and has over 40 international peer-reviewed publications. He is the manager of the Dublin Energy Lab, the Dublin Institute of Technology’s (DIT) energy research centre. He is Ireland’s representative on the International Energy Agency’s Task 26 on the Cost of Wind Energy. He sits on the board of the Environmental Sustainable and Health Institute at DIT. He is a member of the Irish Energy Institute Membership Sub-committee and the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Energy and Sustainability.
