Dr David Dorran

Biography

David Dorran graduated from the Dublin Institute of technology in 1998 with an honours degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. He worked in industry in both a hardware and software engineering capacity for 4 years before returning to academia in 2002, when he undertook a research position in the audio signal processing domain.  avid completed his Ph.D. research on Audio Time-Scale Modification in May 2005 and has published extensively in the area. In November 2005 he was appointed assistant lecturer in Electrical/Electronic Engineering in the School of Electrical Engineering Systems in the Dublin Institute of Technology and was instrumental in forming the Institute's Audio Research Group. In November 2008 he progressed to a full lecturing position and his current research interests are in the area of speech transformations and audio processing.  In 2010 he was awarded a teaching fellowship in which he developed an online learning environment which promotes the development of core competencies within engineering students.  To date he has supervised 3 PHD and 1 MPhil postgraduate researchers to completion and has acted as a reviewer for IEEE, EURASIP and ISSC journals and conferences.
