Biography
Aidan is a chartered civil engineer with over 20 years of consulting practice and more than a decade of research and teaching experience. He has a wide expertise in the field of energy consulting, management and research. He has been involved in the design, construction and operation of CHP plant and low-energy buildings and undertakes research on energy devices, systems and policies. He lectures on masters courses in energy management and sustainable infrastructure and has supervised several PhD students on energy-related research. He has won and managed numerous national and international energy research projects. He has published two books on engineering and energy project appraisal and has over 40 international peer-reviewed publications. He is the manager of the Dublin Energy Lab, the Dublin Institute of Technology’s (DIT) energy research centre. He is Ireland’s representative on the International Energy Agency’s Task 26 on the Cost of Wind Energy.
Research Interest
Energy policy; techno-economic modelling of energy systems; and life cycle assessment.
