Biography

I joined IBM's Dublin Research Lab in January 2016. Before that, I was a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara (Go Gauchos!), where I also got my PhD and Master's degrees (2014/2011), both in Electrical Engineering. My undergraduate degree - a German "Diplom Ingenieur" in Engineering Cybernetics - is from the Otto-von-Guericke University in Magdeburg (2008). My research interests lie in mathematical modeling and control and any applications thereof, for instance in thermoacoustics, traffic networks, and biological systems. Currently, I work on applications of stochastic modelling and machine learning in the context of driver assistance systems, see also this recent post on the IBM Research Blog.
