Biography
Dr. Gary Phillips is executive vice president and chief strategy officer at Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals. He has executive responsibility for strategy, portfolio management, business development and licensing, market analytics, alliance management and other strategic functions. Dr. Phillips is a member of Mallinckrodt’s executive committee. Dr. Phillips has more than 20 years of experience in commercial operations, clinical medicine, strategy, business development, licensing and business analytics in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. Before joining Mallinckrodt, Dr. Phillips served as the head of global health at the World Economic Forum in Geneva. Previously, he was president of Reckitt Benckiser Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and held the dual roles of president, U.S. surgical and pharmaceuticals and global head of pharmaceuticals at Bausch & Lomb. He has also held executive roles at Merck Serono, Novartis and Wyeth (now Pfizer) and served as a healthcare strategy managing consultant at Towers Perrin (now Towers Watson) and medical officer with the United States Navy. Dr. Phillips attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a medical degree from the School of Medicine, an MBA from the Wharton School, and a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the College of Arts and Sciences.
