Austin Duffyv

Biography

Dr. Duffy studied medicine at Trinity College, Dublin, graduating in June 1998, and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland in 2001. Between June 2002 and July 2006 Dr. Duffy completed specialist registrar training in medical oncology before moving to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York where he completed a subspecialty fellowship in Gastrointestinal Oncology. In 2008 Dr Duffy was recruited to the National Cancer Institute where he started a translational program in tumor immunology, focusing on gastrointestinal cancers. In 2014 he became Clinical Director of the GI Malignancies Section at NCI. Dr Duffy’s research interest is in performing innovative immunotherapy clinical trials in GI cancers, something he intends to pursue now that he is back in Ireland. In 2016 Dr Duffy was awarded the National Cancer Institute Director’s Award for Innovation in cancer research.
