Biography
Mr. Paul Connell, Associate Clinical Professor (UCD) MB, BCh, BAO; MD;HDIPHQM FRCSI (Ophth)FRANZCO, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Mater Private and Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and a graduate of University College Dublin. Having undertaken his postgraduate training in Ophthalmology and Ophthalmic Surgery through the Irish College of Ophthalmologists higher surgical training program, under the auspices of Royal College of Surgeons, he completed 2 internationally renowned surgical vitreoretinal fellowships at Bristol Eye Hospital and subsequently the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital Melbourne, Australia. There Mr. Connell was appointed to a consultant post in 2009. He returned to Ireland in 2011 and was appointed to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. Mr. Connell is active academically with an extensive publication record and his primary research interests include diabetic retinopathy, aetiology and treatment.
