Biography
Dr Rebecca Maguire (CPsychol.) joined the Department of Psychology at Maynooth University in September 2017. After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Psychology from University College Dublin, Rebecca completed an MA in Cognitive Science followed by a PhD which investigated the cognitive basis of surprise. Prior to taking up her position in Maynooth University, Rebecca was Programme Director of Psychology at the National College of Ireland and has extensive experience teaching a range of subjects within the discipline. Since 2014, Rebecca has been involved in a number of projects examining quality of life in cancer survivors and their caregivers and has a particular interest in how cognitive appraisals and representations of health influence patient well-being. Other research interests include reasoning and decision making, surprise, creativity and student engagement in Higher Education.
