Biography
Dr. Thomas O'Connor has been Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Celtic Studies and Philosophy in NUI Maynooth since 2009. Thomas holds a DEA and PhD from the Sorbonne. Since joining the history staff at NUI Maynooth, he has taught undergraduate modules in early modern European history, including the French Wars of Religion and the history of political thought. His research interests are in early modern European religion, especially Jansenism, and also European migration, especially to and from the British Isles. He has supervised several PhDs in these areas and has examined PhDs in the same areas. His current research interests include the role of foreigners, especially British and Irish, in the Spanish, Portuguese and Roman Inquisitions.
