Biography
Enida Friel is a trained medical doctor with nearly 20 years of working experience in humanitarian and development contexts including field experience in Sub-Saharan Africa, South East Asia and the Balkans. She has a Diploma on Reproductive Health and another one Tropical Medicine from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) as well as a Masters in Public Health from University College Cork. For the past ten years she has been working with Oxfam first as HIV and AIDS Advisor and then as Programme Quality Manager as well as lecturing on reproductive health, HIV and AIDS, global health, epidemiology, situation analysis, monitoring and evaluation in TCD, UCD, Dublin City University and LSTM. Her early research was on quality of maternal care services and evaluation of public health interventions, whereas her more recent research has been on disability inclusiveness in international development, pathways to universal access to healthcare and results based management in development. Enida is presenting on Public Health in Emergencies on our Introduction to Humanitarian Emergencies course.
