Biography
Geraldine Lavin is founding director of 3rd i IT and Business Services Ltd (3rd i) and a business consultant with over 20 years’ experience providing business development, strategy and personal development resources to industry, primarily to the business development, tourism, training and Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) sectors. She has extensive experience as a trainer, facilitator and lecturer across a range of business topics and trainee groups, including managers, employees, start-up entrepreneurs, owner-managers, students and the unemployed. As a trainer she specialises in Business Start Up and Development, Business Planning and Personal Development. The main focus of Geraldine’s work to date has been on business development and training, where she has worked with a range of not-for-profit, public, private and voluntary organisations. She has worked primarily with business support and policy organisations such as the DCU Ryan Academy, the Local Enterprise Offices (formerly City/County Enterprise Boards), FÁS (now Solas), Forfás, the University Industry Programme (now NovaUCD), Enterprise Centres and PLATO, and SMEs at the start-up and growth stages of their development, all with the aim of helping businesses and business owners to develop to their potential. She has also lectured and completed research projects in a number of third level institutions, including UCD, DCU, Maynooth University, APMI (Hong Kong and Singapore) and CESUGA (Spain), primarily in the areas of enterprise, innovation, marketing and business development. From a research perspective, Geraldine has interviewed hundreds of business managers for a number of research projects ranging from client projects to academic publications to support material for training programmes. In a voluntary capacity, Geraldine is a member of the Ballymun Economic Development Working Group, the Small Firms Association National Executive Council and the Dublin City Council Economic Development and Enterprise Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) She holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Masters in Business Studies from UCD, as well as a postgraduate Certificate in Training and Continuing Education from Maynooth University.
