Biography
Jerry has been learning and/or working in further and adult education for around twenty years in Ireland and the UK. A mature student graduate of Queen’s University Belfast, he worked for several years in the further education sector in Scotland as a lecturer and education developer. As a Teacher Fellow in Stevenson College Edinburgh he was responsible for creating opportunities for professional development for teaching staff. He also worked for, and with, the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) on a number of curricular review projects. Since returning to Ireland in 2010, he has worked on various further and adult education programmes with Maynooth University and Waterford IT – including both institutions’ further education teacher training programmes. He also works as an adult education tutor with an ETB. His passion and interest centre around adult educator growth and exploring the potential of narrative ways of learning and researching in adult education.
