Biography
I completed a PhD in Geography at the University of Kentucky and worked at Nottingham Trent University and University College Dublin before joining Maynooth University in 2008. The main focus of my research is contemporary Irish migration and mobility. My book on Ireland and migration in the twenty-first century was published by Manchester University Press in 2015, and you can hear about the book in this interview with The History Show on RTE Radio 1. I am also Managing Editor of Social & Cultural Geography, a leading international geography journal. I am currently working on two funded research projects, both of which focuses on the process of migrant integration. The first is 'Mapping processes of settlement and integration in contemporary Ireland', and it is funded by the Irish Research Council. The second, with Dr Clíodhna Murphy in Law, is funded by the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission. Its title is 'Integration Policy in Ireland Through the Lens of Human Rights and Equality.'
