Biography
Matthias Jakob was born on 10 July 1961 in Gifhorn, Germany. Following training as an Assistant Tax Accountant from 1983 to 1986, he undertook studies at Leuphana University in Lüneburg, Germany, graduating with a degree in business in 1991. Professional Career Matthias Jakob embarked on his professional career in Hamburg with a post as an Assistant to the Management Board at a venture capital company in 1992. He commenced at Olympus Germany in 1993 as Sales Controller and was promoted to Section Manager Controlling F&A the following year. Remaining loyal to Olympus, Matthias Jakob assumed the role of Department Manager Finance & Controlling Europe in 2001. He was promoted to General Manager F&A Europe three years later, and in 2008 became CFO of Olympus Europa Holding and Secretary to the Board. Between December 2011 and January 2013 he was in addition Regional Managing Director responsible for Central Eastern Europe. Matthias Jakob was appointed Managing Director of the Olympus Europa SE & CO. KG Board in 2013.
