Paul is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon in St James’s Hospital and a senior lecturer at Trinity College Dublin and a Senior Lecturer in Postgraduate Training in the R.C.S.I. He qualified from Trinity College, Dublin and St. James’s in 1997 and he then undertook basic surgical training. Following a research MD in Beaumont Hospital he completed higher surgical training in general and colorectal surgery in Ireland. He then undertook sub-specialist training in advanced laparoscopic colorectal surgery in the Royal Brisbane and Womens’ hospital in Australia prior to returning to St. James as a consultant in 2010. He has published nationally and internationally regarding his subspecialist interests in laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. He lives in Dublin with his wife and two young children.
