Mr. Hugo Bonar

Biography

Hugo K. Bonar is the Enforcement Manager of the Health Products Regulatory Authority. Prior to that, he served as a senior army officer with the Irish Defence Forces. He has extensive regulatory experience including as Chair of several regional and international groups involving health product regulators, law enforcement and industry. He represents the Department of Health at the WHO Member State Mechanism on S&F medical products. He has acted as an expert member for the development of the Council of Europe Medicrime Convention and for UNODC’s development of a Guide to drafting legislation on Fraudulent Medical Products. Hugo is an attorney-at-law (New York) and solicitor. He holds a B.A. (Public Administration), LL.B and MSc. (Forensic Psychology). He is a graduate of the Command and Staff School of the Military College of the Irish Defence Forces.
