Brian Caulfield
Associate Professor,
Civil, Structural & Environmental Engineering
Trinity College Dublin
Ireland
Biography
Dr Caulfield joined the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering in 2008. Since joining the Department Dr Caulfield has embarked on a intensive research programs addressing global issues such as the environmental impacts of transport and methods to reduce the carbon impacts of transport. Dr Caulfield has published over 100 papers in these areas in high impact international journals and international conferences and to date has been awarded aprox. €1.7 million in research funding (from EPA, FP7, CEDR, NRA, DTTAS, RSA). He currently has 6 PhD students in his research group. Dr Caulfield also sits on a number of National and International research groups and is the current Chair of the Irish Transportation Research Network and sits on the executive committee of the Universities Transport Studies Group as well as several committees at the Transportation Research Board in Washington D.C. Dr Caulfield coordinates the SS Civil Engineering year and is the School of Engineering coordinator of the SS year industrial placement.
