Biography
I teach courses on European history during the early modern period at undergraduate level including ‘Europe 1500-1800: power and culture’, ‘Europe Reformed, 1540-1600’ and ‘Histories of Transylvania: Blood and Soil’, and at postgraduate level on ‘Tolerance and Intolerance in Early Modern Europe’. I supervise research projects on a variety of subjects on the religious and cultural history of early modern Europe.
Research Interest
My research investigates the diverse and changing character of religious life in early modern Europe. I study the impact of the Reformation in Hungary and Transylvania and the Hungarian Reformed tradition in the early modern period. I also study the consequences of religious division in French-speaking societies and consider efforts to promote moral and social discipline in French Reformed communities
