Biography

Maeve Foreman, Assistant Professor in Social Work, School of Social Work and Social Policy, Trinity College, Dublin, joined the School in 2003, having accumulated over 28 years community work and social work practice experience. She worked as a senior medical social worker in HIV and AIDS for 15 years, and as a medical social worker in oncology, haematology and the National Centre for Hereditary Coagulation Disorders. She has practised in community work settings in Dublin and London, including homelessness, housing action and community law centres. She is currently a member the Department of Health and Children's Care and Management Sub-Committee of the National AIDS Strategy Committee. She was course director of Trinity's Master in Social Work programme from Dec 2006 until Jun 2010, and is the current course director of the Bachelor in Social Studies.

Research Interest

Social work practice in health care settings; HIV care and prevention; disability, sexuality and sexual health. Member of advisory group established by Gay Men's Health Project on researching the needs of HIV+ MSM, June 2009. Member of advisory committee for Mayock et al (2009) Supporting LGBT Lives: A study of the mental health and well being of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.
