Biography
I am a lecturer in Optical Network architectures at the department of Computer Science and Statistics of the University of Dublin, Trinity College. My research interests are Long-Reach passive optical networks, dynamically reconfigurable optical networks, flow-based IP optical networking, cross-layer intelligent and self-aware architectures, large-scale testbed trials, HPC optical interconnect and FPGA-hardware accelerated architectures. I obtained my PhD from the Computer Science department of the Trinity College University of Dublin, where I submitted my work on "Optical IP Switching". Before joining Trinity College I worked as a researcher at the Philips Research Laboratories in Aachen (Germany) for the Digital Communication and Networking department. There, from 2003 to 2005, I carried out research in the area of ad-hoc protocols for highly dynamic wireless networks, where I was author of 8 patents. Prior to this experience I worked as an IT consultant with Accenture, in Milan. I graduated in 2002 in Electronic Engineering with Master in Telecommunications from Polytechnic University of Marche in Italy. From July 2001 to February 2002, under the European Erasmus project, I worked as a researcher at the "Radio and Optical Communications Laboratory" of Dublin City University.
