Biography

My research has validated the ICF Core Set for breast cancer, the output of which is a tool to map the recovery trajectory following treatment for breast cancer which is until now unchartered. My interests lie in the area of Professional Issues and Pain Management and to that end I have developed undergraduate modules in both of these areas. I have been very involved in the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP) and represented the organisation at National and International level. Nationally I developed a CPD portfolio for use by students and qualified members of the ISCP Internationally I have been Vice Chair of the European Region of the World Confederation for Physical Therapists. As Chairman of the Professional Issues working party of the European Region I led the development of European Core Standards of Physiotherapy Practice . I have supervised a PhD to completion and masters students on the MSc in Pain Management, Cardiff University. More recently I have been involved in validating a tool to map the recovery pathway of women after surgery for breast cancer.
