Biography
Dr. Robin Patrick Mooney (BEng, ME, PgDip, PgEd, PhD) is a Research Fellow and Adjunct Asst. Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at Trinity College Dublin. Robin received his Bachelors and Master's Degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), Bolton Street, in 2002 and 2003, respectively. At DIT Robin was awarded the Beta Medal and Gold Medal for academic excellence; subsequently, he worked at DIT for two years as a Mechanical Engineering Lecturer. Following this, Robin spent seven years working in industry as professional Project Manager for a leading Irish Design and Architecture firm (Douglas Wallace) where he managed domestic and international projects. During this time Robin completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management from Trinity College. In 2010 Robin was awarded funding by the European Space Agency (ESA), via Enterprise Ireland's PRODEX scheme, to complete a PhD. In 2014 Robin was awarded 3-years of Postdoctoral Research funding again through the ESA. Robin is currently working in two ESA Microgravity Applications Programme research groups: CETSOL and GRADECET. Robin lectures on the 3B7 Manufacturing Engineering undergraduate module and the 5B2 Advanced Materials Masters level modules at Trinity College Dublin. He is currently completing his Masters in Higher Education at Trinity College.
