Ben Fitzpatrick

Biography

Ben is a Lecturer in sports science and the Course Director for the BSc Sport, Physical Activity and Health programme on the Magee campus. Supplementing his multi-professional background, Ben completed his PhD in Physical Activity and Health in 2016. While completing his PhD he was Research Associate on the Sport for Life: All Island project and managed the Exercise Physiology lab on the Magee campus. Ben has lectured on both Nursing and Sport courses across the University and became a permanent lecturer with the School of Sport in September 2016.

Research Interest

Ben is a Lecturer in sports science and the Course Director for the BSc Sport, Physical Activity and Health programme on the Magee campus. Ben graduated from the University of Wales Bangor in 2000 and then worked for a series of community and sport development programmes in his native Wales and then Northern Ireland. To further develop his interest and expertise in health, Ben completed and graduated in 2010 as a registered Nurse from Ulster University and has had over five years’ experience working in acute and emergency medicine departments.
