Cheryl Mcmullin

Biography

Cheryl McMullin, Teaching Fellow in School of Applied Social and Policy Sc. at Ulster University,  Cheryl McMullin is a Teaching Fellow in the School of Sociology and Applied Social Studies. She has an MSc in Professional Development in Social Work from Ulster University. Before her position at Ulster, she worked as a qualified social worker in the Western Health and Social Care Trust, Cheryl has also worked for the Youth Justice Agency and has been a Manger of the Practice Learning Center at Bryson Care. She has been a qualified practice teacher since 2011. Cheryl is interested in promoting relationship based social work practices and devising a four stage model for application in practice. She has recently edited and contributed two chapters and a four stage model of practice in doing relationship based practice with Professor Mary McColgan at Ulster University. Cheryl has many networks in the voluntary and statutory sector which include the Simon Community, First Housing, Women's Aid and Bryson Care.

Research Interest

Applied Social and Policy Sc,  Cheryl's research focuses on transitions, leaving care and the refugee migrant crisis. She is currently working towards her PhD in Childhood studies at Queens Unversity, Belfast, her PhD is in relation to Syrian refugee resettlement in Northern Ireland. She contributes to the teaching and recruitment of students for the BSc undergraduate degree in Social Work and post qualifying programmes.
