Biography
Dr Clare Carruthers is a Senior Lecturer in marketing and tourism and Learning and Teaching Coordinator at Ulster University Business School (UUBS). Clare graduated in combined business studies, majoring in marketing from Paisley University (now UWS, 1996) and gained an MSc in Tourism, Strathclyde University (1998). She attained a PGCFHE (Ulster, 1999) and a PhD examining the process of cultural tourism development in post-industrial cities (Ulster, 2011). She was recipient of the Ulster Distinguished Teaching Award (2014) and achieved Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) accreditation in 2015. Clare is a Senior Fellow of the HEA and a Fellow of the University’s Centre for Higher Education Research and Practice. Her main research interests include urban cultural tourism, cultural regeneration of post-industrial cities, the role of the European City of Culture in urban tourism and urban tourism destination marketing.
Research Interest
She is also heavily engaged with pedagogic research, with interests including engaging students in assessment and feedback, digital technologies for assessment and feedback and on-line learning environments.
