Patrick Lemoine

Biography

Dr Patrick Lemoine was appointed as a Lecturer in the School of Engineering, Ulster University in 2001 and is a member of the Engineering Research Institute. Patrick’s research is focused on nanolayer characterization using techniques such as SEM, EDX, AFM, FIB and nanoindentation. Much of his research work has resulted from collaborations with both Industry (Seagate Inc, AVX Ltd) and Academia (CEA-Grenoble, QUB, Kings College London, National Oceanography Center-Southampton). His current projects are focused on multilayer ceramic capacitors, dental enamel and marine snow. Patrick is Course Director for the BEng Clean Technology course at Ulster. He is a member of the Ulster University Research Ethics Committee (UUREC). Patrick studied Physics at the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Physique de Grenoble (ENSPG). During his degree, thanks to an ERASMUS grant, he completed his final year project at Trinity College Dublin (Ireland). He proceeded to undertake a PhD in the Physics Department at Trinity College Dublin TCD (1989-1992). He held a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Material Science and Chemical Engineering at the Politecnico di Torino, Italy before joining Ulster in 1996 as a Research Assistant.
