Biography

Ruth McAlister, Lecturer in Criminology in School of Applied Social and Policy Sc. at Ulster University, Ruth joined the criminology team as a Lecturer in 2008 and she is currently the Course Director for the BSc Hons Criminology and Criminal Justice degree for full-time students, Ruth has worked with many UK police forces, the National Crime Agency and the European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) at Europol whilst undertaking her research. She has also represented Northern Ireland on the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) Research Panel.

Research Interest

Applied Social and Policy Sc., Her research and teaching interests principally concern cybercrime offending, victimisation and the policing of cyberspace, Ruth co-ordinates three modules at undergraduate level, Cybercrime, Theories of Crime and Criminalisation and Crime and the Media, She also  participates in the Erasmus Programme, teaching at InHolland University of Applied Sciences in Rotterdam annually.
