Biography
Tony McGinn joined the School of sociology and appled social sciences in February 2017. He completed his undergraduate degree in social work at Magee in 2012, and his PhD in 2015. He has practice experience in family and childcare, adult learning disability, mental health and older people. Tony left a business career to get involved in social work in 2008. He still practices with a local family and child-care agency. Besides his social work degree and PhD he has completed two other degrees (a BSc in Psychology and a BSc in Communications Advertising and Marketing) this has given him knowledge of student experience, which he tries to integrate into his teaching and student support.
Research Interest
A Campbell systematic review of Family Group Decision Making. This review, which Tony hopes to publish this sumer, will provide a meta-analysis of trials which have evaluated outcomes from Family Group Decision Making in child protection work. Collaborators: Aron Shlonsky, Paul Best, Admire Chereni and Mphatso Kamndaya
