Biography
John Eakins has been a College Lecturer in the Department of Economics in University College Cork since 2002. Previously he worked as a Research Assistant in the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) in the areas of areas of environmental economics, consumer behaviour and short-term economic forecasting. John's current research interests are in the areas of sports economics, transport economics and household demand modelling. He has published in these areas in , and the academic journals as well as presenting his research at national and international conferences. John completed a PhD in April 2013 on Irish household energy expenditures in the School of Economics, University of Surrey, UK. He is also currently an Associate Member of the Surrey Energy Economics Centre, in the School of Economics, University of Surrey, UK. John currently teaches empirical research methods to undergraduate Arts students as well as advanced microeconomics and econometrics to postgraduate Masters students. John is Chair of the Exchange and International Students Committee and Deputy Chair of the Examinations Committee within the Department of Economics.
