Biography
On graduating from Trinity College Dublin, Una worked with adults in the acute care setting, across all areas in different teaching hospitals across Ireland. As a Senior SLT, she specialised in ENT - Head and Neck Cancer, including laryngectomy and in the Critical Care setting, which included working with patients with communication and swallowing needs, including tracheostomy post surgery. She later moved into a community setting to develop a community based service for adults over 65 years, covering Primary Care, and long term care settings. She has also gained experience in management of a large SLT team covering primary care, disability and acute services. Una has provided training to MDT colleagues and teaching in Head and Neck Cancer including laryngectomy at university level as well as supervision to colleagues and student SLTs across all areas, particularly in management of Eating / Drinking / Swallowing difficulties.
