Biography
Deirdre Adams graduated from University College Dublin in 1985 with a BA degree in English and Greek and Roman Civilisation . She gained her Higher Diploma in Education from UCD in 1986. She travelled abroad teaching in the USA, Colombia and in the UK between 1986 and 1996. She also trained as a counsellor with Relate the couple counselling service in the UK. She commenced her legal studies at Leeds University in 1997 where she completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Law. She completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice at Sheffield University in 1998. Her legal studies were sponsored by Nabarro Nathanson Soliciotors, a top 20 UK commercial law firm, with whom she completed her traineeship to qualify as a solictor. During her time with Nabarro Nathanson she worked on a number of high profile cases in the areas of property and construction law. She was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 2002. She was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors of the Law Society of Ireland in 2003 On returning to Ireland in 2003 she worked in private practice as a solicitor in Waterford for three years before becoming a full time lecturer at Waterford Institute of Technology in 2006.
